As Principal of El Gabilan School, I would like to welcome you and your child(ren) to the 2016-2017 school year! I hope your summer has gone well and that you are ready to return for a new school year! I anticipate an exciting year as we collectively strive to foster a positive and respectful culture of learning. I feel extremely fortunate to be working with such exceptional students, families, and staff members. Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Esabel Cervantes. I am a lifelong resident of Salinas. I care greatly for our community and for this reason I have dedicated most of my career to working in Salinas schools. I am very excited to get to know you and your children. This year some of my goals are to establish conditions for learning, improve the learning environment and continue to support teachers in increasing student achievement. I see myself as a teacher and educational leader. My personal vision begins with believing that all children can learn. I believe in creating a nurturing environment that is child-centered and compatible to how children learn best. I believe in building an atmosphere that has a strong sense of family and a deep sense of belonging. I have made a commitment to empower teachers and parents in educating all our children to become productive and contributing members of our society. I share my vision with you knowing that it takes teamwork to ensure student success. We need to work as a team: parents, students, teachers and administrators. Teachers, Support Staff and administrators invite you to visit our school and maintain ongoing contact with us. Language is not a barrier if it's English or Spanish. I encourage you to get involved in the various parent groups we have at school or volunteer time in your child's class.
